Headed to Ueno via the JR line. Totally clueless on exactly where to get to for lunch until I passed by those little shops selling bento, biscuits etc. I suggested a bento lunch since we will be walking around park to appreciate the Sakura...
The bento are not warm up but they taste good.
It's a beautiful day with nice breeze and sun. While getting us drinks from vending machine, Hui came back telling us there are actually some food stalls selling Japanese noodles around.
First stop after lunch is this Japan GuanYin Temple
It's very different from our usual temple in Singapore where joss sticks are bring offered.
There is only a urn that have smoke coming out and the donation box in front of the statue.
Very calm when you are inside.
Washing our hands with their "holy water"
Cloie scribbing her wishes on the wishing board...and tied it up on the stand by herself.
Start our own Hanami walk in the park...
Breathtaking view of sakura as we walked further in.
Japanese are chilling out under the sakura, most of them in big group and well prepared with foods and wine.
Ueno park is really big with a zoo and nice lake inside.
We have some yakisoba (fried noodle), hotdogs and takopachi while walking.
There are also sugar or chocolate banana store mended by the 1st batch of rude japanese we met.
(impression for japanese are always polite)
Next Stop - Asakusa
One of the must go shrine in Tokyo...Sensō-ji
For us, it's the Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate), the outer gate of Sensō-ji and symbol of Asakusa that we love to mark our trip.
Along the way to the shrine after passing through Kaminarimon, it's Nakamise- shopping streets with small shops selling local snacks and souvenirs from Asakusa area. There are also shoes shop, pharmacy and restaurants along the alley of Nakamise. It's very crowded so if you are testing food samples from shops, they don't allow you to walk away with the food, you got to test in their store.
It's took us nearly an hour or so to reach Sensō-ji main temple front.
The Nakamise really have alot to see especially food :)
As it's near evening and weather is turning cold...
My father in law gouts starts to pain him abit and though he said he is ok, we started to look for a place to settle in for something hot to eat so he gets warm up.
*Be sensitive when travelling with elders if you know that they have some ailment, you got to insist that they take a rest or get some food to warm them up even if they tell you they are ok.*
Here we are @ Chu Ka Soba shop. The soup soba really warm us up.
After our early dinner, we just headed down to Shibuya to see the popular cross junction and neon lights.
Wanted to shop around but saw my in laws are tired. We went back to our hotel shortly after reaching.
Back to the hotel....Josh still having fun :)
